Anna Long
Meet Anna Long.
Anna Long is a senior pole vaulter on the TCU Women’s Indoor Track Team. She is originally from Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she grew up with her family and many animals. Anna’s family has three dogs, two cats, and a turtle. When she returns to Fort Worth in the fall, one of those cats will be coming with her to keep her company.
Anna has not always been a star pole vaulter. She actually started her athletic career in gymnastics and didn’t find her love for track until junior year of high school. Anna spends a lot of time outdoors and has recently started getting into fly fishing, although she currently prefers freshwater. Her love for the outdoors is so great that she hopes to travel around the U.S. and visit all of the national and natural parks.
Currently, she likes living in Texas, but she could see herself moving to North Carolina, or staying a little closer to home and trying out San Antonio or the DFW area. Anna has definitely had time to figure out which Texas restaurants are her favorites, two of them being Torchys and Maggie’s R&R. However, she also loves Italian restaurants, but dislikes sushi and Japanese food. She loves coffee and her usual order is a caramel latte. However, on meet days she tends to opt for a Red Bull as a step in her warm up routine.
When she travels for meets, she and the other pole vaulters & high jumpers always find themselves flying Southwest because they are the only airline that will check their poles. Traveling to away meets is not always fun, but she did love competing at Texas Tech indoor. When Anna isn’t practicing or studying, she may be watching Stranger Things, doing her nails with fun stickers, browsing the Kendra Scott website, or planning out her week with her paper planner. She loves classic country & western & enjoys going to Stockyards. One of the more important aspects of her life is her faith & she currently serves on the RUF leadership team.
